POS Card Reader

The POS Card Reader is a Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR) device through which a credit or debit card is swiped and read.

As most credit / debit card companies have deployed the EMV chip, newer POS Card Readers can also read chip cards.

POS MSR card readers come in one-stripe, two-stripe and three-stripe versions

Two-stripe MSR allows a reader to get both account number and name from the card.

Three-stripe MSR reader can read customized information on the third stripe.

Most MSRs sold today are three stripe readers.

The merchant may liaise with their local bank if they like to accept credit card payments from their customers.  Usually the bank’s services will include the rental of the POS Card Reader / MSR device.
