Generally speaking, the POS Computer or POS Server is the main processor for the POS System Software. This is where the main POS database reside.
In a simple POS system / Standalone POS, this can be a PC with all other connected peripheral hardware.
In a large deployment where there could be multiple POS terminals, it is recommended to upgrade the POS computer to a suitably powerful server to act as a common database where the multiple POS terminals can communicate with.
