Types Of POS Solutions
POS solutions have common functions such as pricing, sales transaction recording, receipt printing. However, depending on the business industry that the POS System is used in, the POS Application software may have additional modules that are custom built for the unique operation processes of that business.
One key difference in a Retail POS solution versus a Restaurant POS or Hospitality POS is how the transactions are handled. In a Retail POS System, purchased items are captured and payment processed immediately. In a Restaurant POS System or Hospitality POS System, purchased food or services are captured but payment is suspended until the service delivery is completed. A Restaurant/Hospitality POS solution will therefore require software module to record items for bill processing at a later time.
