Being an IT system, it is subjected to virus, malware, hacking attacks and even internal staff mischief. Hence it is important to ensure it is secured from intruders. Install appropriate anti-virus software. Lock down the system to prevent programs that are non-POS related from executing on the system.

A POS system is able to keep track of sales based on employee code. Depending on the needs of the business, security reporting features can be included in the software to track any suspicious or unauthorized activities such as deleting sales, cancelling sales, over-writing pricing etc. Different levels of authorizations can also be built into the system to minimize incidences of fraud by staff.
